Power efficiency
The CC CapPack is designed for use in brushless motor applications, providing an extra boost to help overcome ripple in battery voltage caused by hard acceleration or long battery wires. Ripple voltage can stress an ESC, and adding a CC CapPack helps reduce the load on the controller’s onboard capacitors.
This CapPack uses three 560µF, 35V capacitors for a total of 1680µF, improving its ability to reduce voltage ripple. It is suitable for use with LiPo batteries up to 8 cells. For battery setups greater than 8S (35V), a 50V, 880µF CapPack is recommended instead.
Helicopters The CC CapPack is recommended for 500-class and smaller helicopter applications where Y-harnesses and long wires may cause voltage drop. High collective inputs can put additional strain on batteries, making the CapPack beneficial.
Surface vehicles RC cars and trucks place heavy demands on brushless systems due to high torque and rapid acceleration. In high-performance applications such as drag racing or high-speed runs, the CC CapPack helps maintain stable power delivery and reduce stress on electronics.
Fixed wing aircraft Larger electric aircraft often require longer distances between the battery and ESC, which can increase wire length and electrical inductance. This can raise ripple voltage in the system. The CC CapPack helps counteract the effects of adding up to 12 inches of extra battery wire.
Marine Not required for all boat applications. It is recommended for high-speed or high-performance setups, particularly with the Hydra X8S. The Hydra XLX2 typically does not require a capacitor pack, but users should monitor ripple voltage to determine if one is needed.
